"My favorite shows are always the ones they enjoy, to see the big smiles
on their faces. We have been to see 'Lion King,' 'Hair Spray' and the
latest show they saw was 'Grease' although unfortunately I missed out on
that one," he says.

Originally from Michigan-"my family are from Detroit and this is where my
grandfather started the business in 1912"-now it is a third-generation
family business approaching its 100th anniversary.

Literally growing up in the theater, "my earliest memory was running up
and down the isles of the Fisher Theater in Detroit," says Nederlander.

However, not following the obvious path to follow in the family
footsteps, Nederlander continues, "I went to university in Michigan where
I studied economics and computer science and from there went to law
school. I think education should be about doing something you enjoy, even
if it is not entirely related to what you will pursue as a profession."

After law school, the entertainment tycoon spent five years working for a
law firm in New York before finally joining the family business.

"Although my education was quite different for the theater industry, it
turned out to complement the business well. I have always focused on new
markets to expand from our core expertise (live entertainment), for
example, using new media to promote shows."
