The images in Yan Yu's Smoker Series are always with long neck, small
eyes, obscure expression, and erogenous lips with a cigarette curl
smoking upwards.
Some smokers have apathetic, proud and aloof expression, showing a
distance from the viewers; while others with expression of inebriety and
enjoyment, totally indulging in blowing a cloud and showing a free and
easy feeling and elegance. Yan Yu expresses the spirit of rebelling to
rule, seeking a freedom, personality and voice away from the mainstream.
